Through I loved the section most
on the gratitude journal I found that once the idea of the meditation bus was
uncovered I felt like the author knew exactly what I was experiencing before I even
got to that part in the book. I do my best to talk about all the thinks that
mean most to me in my journal and stay away from the negativity but still it
can be hard.
So once the bus waiting idea of mediation was brought up I found
myself feeling relived and excited. This notion of creating happiness by being
happy and thankful for mundane every day things is a great way to brighten your
day and just to feel better over all. After all there is a lot one can
appreciate by just waiting around for a bus to arrive depending on where you
are waiting.
Digging deeper I was shown this idea of “act the way you want to
feel”. Well yeah duh that sounds easy but how easy is it really? Probably pretty
hard actually but I have been trying it so far today after reading and I think
its working. Calling friends bright and early and make them feel good by waling
them with a friendly voice. Making food for myself walking my dog unexpectedly
at the crack of dawn all of these things are a great part of self-actualization
and can lend themselves to make you happier. If this is how we all generated
happiness on top of the two times a week gratefulness journal we would all be
so much more content.
So far so good, I urge my classmates to do the same if
you haven’t already started!

Being happy seems like working-out. It's total work but once you start doing it regularly you wonder why you don't do it more often. And the more you do the better the results.
ReplyDeleteI like that you mentioned the notion of bus-stop meditation. The idea of adding the word "meditation" to the end of wherever we are, when we're being mindful and present - even if it's just a moment or two, I think is powerful. I see where something like that would come in handy when you're racing about the Canary trying to find a moment for yourself.
I think you're on to something. Waking up early to give yourself time to relax or start off on the right foot or in your case be productive, is important. Knowing these things that make you happier is half the battle. I think I'll wake up early tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI can visualize you doing these activities with your new, positive perspective...walking the dog, calling your friends. It's great! Changing bad habits like negative thinking can be really hard when it's something your brain is incredibly programmed to do, but it's true, you just have to start trying one day and keep at it! When it comes down to it life is made up of a bunch of little things more so than of big things so it is definitely important to make each moment count! It's easy to say that waiting for the bus or walking to get coffee are such small moments that it doesn't matter enough to make them more enjoyable or worthwhile until you realize how much of life is spent of these things and that basically we've been letting them all go by without much thought! The more practice is put into happiness the easier it is and the more little moments spent happy will turn into the majority of life spent happy. Sounds pretty great!

ReplyDeleteDo what’s meaningful to you, because in the bigger picture , you will be the one looking back at this project.:) I like the idea of including images and your past photos reflecting the lst few months, but I love to see written content. This course showed a lot of techniques in writing and benefits of keeping a personal journal. I am sure you have some GOODIES in your journal. If you aren’t already, I would suggest to add your entries with the photos.
